A Darling Newborn Session Featuring Twin Baby Girls!
I’m in love with this twin newborn photo session! If there is anything better than one newborn baby, its two! For someone who loves babies as much as I do, getting to spend my day with twin baby girls was like winning a prize. I had so much fun meeting this sweet mommy and her two beautiful baby girls.
Don’t get me wrong, a twin newborn photo session is a lot of work! I did rely on the twins’ mommy to help me hold one baby between poses. Working with twin newborn babies takes a little extra care to ensure that both babies are comfortable and safe throughout the entire session. Newborn safety is something that I take very seriously and spend countless hours educating myself in safe newborn handling and posing.
I always like to ask twin moms about the differences between their babies. All babies come with their own personality quirks, and twins are no different! Even at just a few weeks old, their mommy was already able to tell me who was the calm one and who was the “wild one.” Haha. They may look the same to the rest of us, but twin moms can always tell their babies apart.
Newborn Twin Photo Session Setup
Although this was a twin newborn photo session, I still wanted to capture images of each baby individually. I started by photographing the calm baby. She really was calm and very easy to work with! She went right to sleep and stayed asleep throughout the entire session. Afterwards I photographed her sister in the same setups with slightly different props. I wanted the photos to match without being exactly the same. I photographed both babies on my beanbag and on my wooden boards using some of my favorite newborn photography props, using a combination of light pink and cream colored wraps.
Pictures of Twin Baby Girls
After photographing the baby girls individually, we moved onto their twin newborn pictures together. First, I lined a large basket with one of my felted wool stuffers. This created a soft and warm surface to place the babies into. I also photographed them laying on my fluffy flokati rug from Luneberry. They looked absolutely adorable all snuggled up together! I couldn’t help but convert some of these newborn twin pictures into black and white. I normally don’t do a lot of black and white, but I thought it really helped to highlight the beauty of these twins.
Overall, I could not have been happier with how the images turned out! As a newborn photographer, every session is special to me, but there is something about photographing twins that takes it over the top.
